Blue Earth Summit 2021: Forging a closer connection to the natural world

written by Oceanographic Staff

This year’s Blue Earth Summit will be held from 13 to 14 October in Bristol, United Kingdom. Visitors can look forward to two days of inspiration and action forging a closer connection to the natural world for those who want to live and work more sustainably.

With the critical COP26 global gathering about to start in Glasgow on 1 November, Blue Earth Summit is a timely marker bringing together a cross section of eminently positive thinkers across business, the outdoor industries, elite sport, academia, politics, activism and sustainability to challenge us all to commit to values and habits for the common good in a region that is proud of it’s leadership, humility and creativity.

The summit is committed to three principles of ‘living and working sustainably’, ‘protecting our playgrounds’ and ‘inspiring a healthy outlook’. Day one of the event will see a programme of content designed to inspire attendees at The Marble Factory, involving keynote speakers such as Sir Tim Smit from The Eden Project which delivers educational inspiration in spades, biomes and geothermal energy, the Polar athlete and explorer Rosie Stancer as well as multi-award winning environmental entrepreneur Kresse Wesling. Panels hosted by Lucy Siegle and ethical business investor sessions will also be part of day one.

The second day is built around attendee experience, with the chance to get outdoors and take part in a range of activities, from trail running to surfing in partnership with Maverick Race, at The Wave, Bristol. The event’s keynote stage host will be Keme Nzerem, one of the most recognisable faces on Channel 4 and ITV News. Washington – Moscow – Johannesburg – Rio – London – for the past two decades Keme has reported from around the globe on wide ranging issues from corruption, politics, and human rights – to sport. His focus is always on people, and how global events impact the lives of ordinary folk.
