Ocean Photographer of the Year 2022 – open for entries

Written by Oceanographic staff
The Ocean Photographer of the Year 2022 is open for submissions.

The Ocean Photographer of the Year has a simple mission: to shine a light on the beauty of the ocean and the threats it faces, all while raising money for its protection.

The competition is an opportunity for all ocean photographers – divers, surfers and sailors alike – to share their art with the world. In 2021, winning photographs reached more than a billion people. Nine categories will be judged, including several new categories. Category information can be found here.

Entrants can submit their images from today until June 30th, 2022. Winners, including the overall winner – the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2022 – will be announced in September. A stunning London exhibition will follow, where all winning images will be put on public display. The exhibition will be free to visit. Last year’s exhibition was enjoyed by more than a million people.

The full judging panel, including two new judges for 2022 (David Doubilet and Sadie Quarrier), is: Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Shawn Heinrichs, Andy Mann, David Doubilet and Sadie Quarrier. More information on each of the judges can be found here.

The Ocean Photographer of the Year 2022 is produced by Oceanographic Magazine, in partnership with Blancpain, Princess Yachts and Tourism Western Australia, and in support of SeaLegacy.

Good luck to all those entering!

2021 Ocean Photographer of the Year, Aimee Jan
