"To capture this otherworldly scene, I travelled to the calm, blue waters of the Aegean Sea," says Alpert. "Waiting for a near perfect windless day, using the protection of a sheltered bay, I needed to ensure the light penetrated the water with maximum intensity to illuminate my subject and create the vertical rays through the water. I flipped the photo upside down so viewers could experience the weightlessness of ‘underwater flight’. For me, there is no greater adventure than exploring the ocean."
