The story behind this print, in the words of photographer Mark Williams: “I was camping in the Broughton Archipelago in Canada and was exploring the area for the day with our small RIB boat. On the evening cruise back to camp, I suddenly spotted some blows in the distance. I shut down the engine and sat in awed silence,” remembers Williams. “Time slowed down and as the light drew in, I felt my other senses were heightened. With no other humans around for many miles, it felt as though we could have been part of the pod ourselves. The killer whales’ exhales echoed off the nearby cliffs as they moved slowly in our direction. Their underwater vocalisations could at times be even heard above the surface.”
