Written in the Water: From the Riverbank to the Open Sea.
This October, Ocean Talks comes to Bath for an evening that follows the water from riverbank to open sea. We'll begin close to home, tracing the conservation and restoration efforts underway on the River Avon and what they reveal about our relationships within nature - and with the blue spaces we so often take for granted. From there, the story flows outward, carrying the audience from source to sea and into the wider ocean beyond.
Joining us on that journey is wildlife filmmaker Olly Scholey, whose natural history filmmaking has taken him from Britain's coastlines to the open ocean in pursuit of the stories that connect us to the water, nature writer and content creator Sophie Pavelle, known for her sharp, funny and deeply-felt writing on Britain's wildlife; and Meg Avon, performance poet and river rights researcher who famously married the river Avon in 2023 as a symbolic act of love and protest. Together they'll take us from the Avon's banks out into the open sea, in an evening of storytelling, film and conversation about our ever-changing relationship with the natural world.
