Reporting into the Director, and working with the Editor and Creative Director, the candidate will be ready to take on responsibility for building new social strategies for Oceanographic Magazine and Ocean Photographer of the Year.

The right candidate will be highly driven, possess a deep understanding of social trends, and have a proven track record in creating and delivering successful social campaigns. They will have a demonstrable passion for community engagement and an appreciation of the power of social media in modern storytelling, publishing and ocean conservation.

Data analysis will form the bedrock of the role – monitoring, analysing and reporting on content performance using analytics tools to track key metrics, form insights, and shape strategy, primarily on Instagram, but also Facebook and X. The scope of this analysis extends beyond social channels, to include oceanographicmagazine.com and specific KPI’s related to site traffic.

The candidate will understand that at the heart of this role, alongside the data and KPI’s, is the provision of best-in-class content for Oceanographic’s community – both longstanding and new.

The role comes with private healthcare and access to an EV car scheme (currently being implemented and subject to approval). The role is based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement social media strategies to align with business goals across digital (follower count, website traffic, magazine sales, newsletter sign-ups, etc)
  • Create powerful, targeted, data-driven content and campaigns
  • Maintain, daily, best-in-class content offering for readers and followers, using text, images and video (inc. creation of video using company studio space)
  • Ensure content calendar is populated at least one month ahead of posting
  • Report, weekly, on KPI’s set out with Director
  • Communicate with followers, responding to queries in a timely manner
  • Work with Creative Director to oversee social media accounts’ design and feel
  • Continually evolve the brands’ online offerings (promotions, competitions, events, etc)
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies, trends and audience preferences

Desired skills / experience:

  • BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field
  • 2+ years in social media marketing
  • Excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical and multitasking skills
  • Understanding of Google Analytics
  • A passion for the ocean, and an understanding of the conservation issues it faces

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
