Arctic sea ice reaches new low as January hits record high

The Copernicus Climate Change Service said January 2025 was the warmest on record with surface air temperatures 1.75-degrees-celsius above pre-industrial levels. It was the 18th month out of 19 to record global average surface temperatures above the critical 1.5-degrees celsius pre-industrial marker.
