Ocean alliance lifts veil of 'opaque oil spill reporting' in UK waters. UK seas suffered more than two oil or chemical spills a day last year, totalling more than 82,000kg of oil and 149,000kg of chemical entering British waters. One spill - which occured in the Alba oil field off Scotland - saw 11,170kg or chemicals leak into the marine environment.
