The story behind this print, in the words of photographer Scott Portelli: "The polar bear is a master of its own environment," says Portelli. "In April, they leave their dens and move out towards the sea ice to feed. Hunting is a challenging game for a polar bear. The element of surprise, and their cloak of camouflage can be the difference between a meal and starving in the cold, arid and frozen desert."

This image, taken in Canada, was Highly Commended in the Ocean Fine Art Photographer of the Year category at OPY2023.
