In his video column, Giosue 'Gio' Reale, a Brighton-based PADI AmbassaDiver and video content producer, shares some exciting stories about his myriad marine wildlife encounters around the south coast of England. With his videos, he hopes to educate people about the local - and often overlooked - species that inhabit this special region. Many people don’t realise the wealth of species found in the English Channel. Just recently, a humpback whale was spotted from the coastline, while pods of dolphins, seals and several species of sharks are increasingly spotted by the public.

“Recently, I came across a small-spotted catshark that I actually thought was dead until I looked closer and realised that it was still opening its mouth very, very slightly,” remembers Gio.
