The Bamsebu whaling station in Svalbard. “I have visited Bamsebu a few times before, and each visit brings an eerie feeling. This old whaling station, where hunters exclusively targeted belugas, still bears their bones scattered along the shores. We bring guests here to reflect on the horrors of the past and the possibility of change. With beluga whaling now banned in Svalbard, we can only hope their numbers will rise again. In this image, I aimed to capture the haunting atmosphere and the harsh conditions in which the whalers once lived.”
