Finalist Adventure Photographer of the Year
Byron Conroy Iceland
“This image was shot at night time, in the world-famous Silfra fissure in Iceland, a tectonic boundary between the North American and Eurasian plates,” explains Conroy. “You get underwater visibility of 100 metres or more here. This was a difficult photo to shoot as the water temperature was 1 degree Celsius, while the air temperature was in the minus range. We used artificial light at night for a new perspective of the rift.”
